LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Georgia State completed a series sweep of the Bellarmine University baseball team with an 18-8 victory over the Knights on Sunday at Coolray Field.
An eight-run second inning was the tone-setter for Georgia State (6-2), which added a six-run eighth and amassed 17 hits in the contest. Hunter Carlson homered and doubled while going 4-for-5 with seven RBI for the Panthers.
Bellarmine (2-5) collected 10 hits, with sophomore shortstop
Landon Akers, senior right fielder
Eli Watson and senior designated hitter
Charlie Rife notching two apiece. Rife and senior catcher
Logan Murphy both had RBI doubles in a three-run seventh, and Akers had an RBI single in a three-run ninth.
Senior left-hander
Presley Monteforte struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.
Bellarmine will play at 4 p.m. (ET) Tuesday at Tennessee.
