KNOXVILLE, Tn. – The Bellarmine University women's tennis team returned to action after nearly 20 days since its last match, falling 4-0 to Tennessee on Wednesday afternoon at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Bellarmine (8-16) entered the match off a 4-2 win over Ball State on March 7 but couldn't carry the momentum over the No. 12 ranked Lady Volunteers (10-5, 5-4 SEC).
Starting in doubles, Tennessee made quick work of the matches in flights one and three, winning 6-1 to secure the team point.
Moving into singles, the Lady Vols once again got down to business, winning matches on courts one, two and six to clinch the match 4-0.
On court four, junior
Marika Caruk was up 3-2 in the second set of her match but was unable to finish due to the clinch.
Up next, Bellarmine will stay on the road and travel to Indianapolis, IN for a match at Butler on March 27.
