Women's tennis drops pair of tight matches at Butler and Eastern Kentucky

| Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University women's tennis team dropped a pair of tight contests on the road this weekend, falling 4-3 at Butler on Friday before opening ASUN play with a 4-2 loss at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday.

Against Butler, the Knights started off hot, securing the doubles point with wins in flights one and three. Senior Vendula Kryslova and Reese Parker got things going with their 6-4 victory in flight one before juniors Marika Caruk and Nikola Kollaritsch clinched the team point with a 6-4 win in flight three.

In singles, Kryslova notched her second win of the day on court one, taking down her opponent 6-4, 6-3.

From there, Butler rallied and won each of the next three singles matches on courts two, three and four to jump ahead 3-2 in the match.

Kollaritsch tied the match at 3-3 with her 6-3, 6-2 victory on court five, her second win of the day, but Butler had one last rally as the Bulldogs clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court six.

On Sunday, EKU got off on the right foot, taking the doubles points with wins in the first two flights. Caruk and Kryslova held a 5-4 advantage in their match in flight three but were unable to finish due to the clinch.

Kryslova and Parker both bounced back from the loss in singles play as the pair collected wins on courts one and two, respectively. Kryslova got the Knights first point with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win before Parker added on with her 6-2, 6-3 victory.

The Colonels rallied however, taking wins on courts three, four and six to come back and win the match 4-2.

Up next, Bellarmine will travel to Lipscomb in Nashville, TN on Thursday, April 9 for its final road match of the regular season.
