LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine field hockey opened Mid-American Conference play Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 to App State at the Adcock Field Hockey Complex.
The Knights battled through a scoreless first half before the Mountaineers broke through with the lone goal of the game in the 44th minute. Megan Clauser kept Bellarmine within striking distance, recording nine saves on the afternoon.
Bellarmine finished with four shots and two penalty corners, including a third-quarter shot on goal from Luna Tuncay.
The Knights return to action Sunday, traveling to Davidson for a noon contest.
