LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sophomore forward
Katie Paulakonis recorded a brace as the Bellarmine University women's soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Morehead State on Sunday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
After Morehead State (5-6) scored one minute into the second half, Paulakonis found the net in the 49th and 65th minutes for Bellarmine (2-4-1), which won two of three in its extended homestand. Paulakonis' three goals this season have come in the last two contests.
Bellarmine concluded the nonconference portion of its schedule. The Knights and Morehead State played a scoreless first half, but the Eagles got on the board almost immediately after the break on a goal by Ashton Lynam.
Bellarmine answered less than three minutes later. Paulakonis had a shot from 8 yards blocked, but she stuck in the rebound to equalize the contest at 1.
Later in the half, sophomore midfielder
Nora Dimmitt sent a through ball into the box for Paulakonis, who slotted the game-winner past Morehead State's charging goalkeeper from 10 yards out. The Knights almost padded their lead, but freshman
Ella Flynn's header off a set piece caromed off the post.
Bellarmine faced a late scare. With a little over a minute left, Morehead State's Molly Tapak had an open look from the left side, but sophomore goalkeeper
Anna Jenkins hauled in her sixth save.
Bellarmine finished with a 16-14 advantage in shots, including 10-7 on frame. The Knights had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Morgan Rose.
Bellarmine opens ASUN play at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday, Sept. 24, at North Florida.
