LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine University wrestling head coach Ned Shuck announced Wednesday that Brayton Lee has been elevated to the position of head assistant coach, continuing his role as a key member of the Knights' coaching staff.
Lee joined the Bellarmine staff as an assistant coach in August 2025 following a decorated collegiate wrestling career at Minnesota and Indiana. A six-year letter winner between the two programs, Lee compiled a 73-26 career record, including a 59-23 mark in five seasons with the Gophers and a 14-3 record during his final season at Indiana.
A three-time NCAA qualifier, Lee earned All-American honors in 2021 after placing sixth at 157 pounds at the NCAA Championships. He also earned NWCA First-Team All-American honors at 149 pounds in 2020, when he went 25-6 in his first season as a starter at Minnesota. Lee was a two-time Big Ten Championships place winner during his collegiate career, including a third-place finish in 2021 and a fifth-place finish in his final season at Indiana.
Lee's final collegiate season at Indiana saw him post a 13-4 record while starting the year 10-0 and finishing undefeated in dual competition. He recorded eight wins over ranked opponents, placed fifth at the Big Ten Championships and earned the No. 11 seed at the NCAA Championships.
Since joining the Knights, Lee has also continued his competitive career. He competed at the 2025 World Team Trials at Louisville's Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, where he defeated 2025 NCAA champion Antrell Taylor. His continued competition has complemented his coaching role by providing Bellarmine wrestlers with an active example of high-level training and competition.

"Since joining our staff, Brayton has brought an unwavering character that helps set a high standard for the type of men we are trying to mentor our wrestlers to become. His faith is at the center of who he is and the positive impact he has already had on our culture.
"Brayton cares deeply about each of our guys and about Bellarmine Wrestling as a whole. His passion for wrestling is contagious, and our staff and wrestlers feed off the energy and expertise he brings into the room every day. For a young coach, he has an incredible ability to see the big picture, and I've really enjoyed working alongside him as we figure out the best way to play our favorite game.
"There are no limits to where Bellarmine Wrestling can go with Brayton on our staff. He believes deeply in what we are building here, and I believe this is exactly where he belongs."
A native of Brownsburg, Indiana, Lee was a three-time Indiana state champion at Brownsburg High School. He was also a three-time All-State and four-time All-Conference selection, a three-time Fargo All-American and the 2018 Junior Fargo National Champion.
