MADISON, Ill. — Sophomore
Landon Stillwell earned a top 20 as the Bellarmine University men's golf team competed Monday-Tuesday in the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIU Edwardsville.
Bellarmine (860) placed 11th of 17 teams in the three-round tournament at Gateway National Golf Links. Bradley (837) rode an opening-round 12-under to edge out SIU Edwardsville (839) for the team championship. Although Northern Iowa placed third to last, its Tanner Dinnebier secured medalist honors at 10-under.
Bellarmine's best round was a 4-under 280 in the second round. The Knights had three players under par and another at even par. Bellarmine recorded an even-par 280 in the opening round.
Stillwell tied for 17th at 2-under 211. His team-best score featured an opening-round 3-under 68 that was a season low and included five birdies and an eagle. He followed in round two with a 1-under 70 behind five birdies.
Freshman
Brayden Carlisle tied for 35th (1-over 214) and carded a season-low 1-under 70 in the second round following an even-par opening round. He registered four birdies in the middle round.
Junior
Ben Wulkopf tied for 48th (218), junior
Ben Davenport tied for 52nd (219) and sophomore
Max Terrell tied for 73rd (225). Wulkopf shot a 2-under in the second round on the strength of five birdies.
Bellarmine will compete Monday-Tuesday in the Belmont-hosted Kemper Lakes Invitational in Chicago.
