Brandon Boxer joined the Bellarmine University baseball coaching staff as an assistant in the summer of 2024.
In Boxer's first season at Bellarmine, the Knights in 2025 set Division I-era program records for total wins (17, four more than previous high) and ASUN wins (11) while recording their first-ever D1-era victory over both a nationally ranked opponent and a College World Series qualifier after defeating No. 21 Louisville 10-9 on May 13. The first squad with Boxer aboard produced a D1-era record 355 runs while redshirt freshman Landon Akers became the program's youngest All-ASUN selection (second team, shortstop). The Knights additionally set a program record with 38 ASUN Honor Roll recipients.
Boxer was fresh off his playing career upon becoming a member of Bellarmine's staff. The former catcher/utility played his first two seasons at the University of Charleston, another at Indiana University Southeast and two more at Cumberland (Tenn.) University. At IU Southeast, Boxer played for then-head coach Ben Reel, who is now the head coach of the Knights.
Even though he had just hung up his cleats, Boxer had already gained experience coaching the game upon his arrival at Bellarmine. He was an assistant coach in summer ball in the Ohio Valley League for two years, helping shepherd the Henderson Flash to a divisional title in 2023 and a league championship in 2024.
For his playing career, Boxer batted .312 with 12 homers and 55 stolen bases. In 2022 with IU Southeast, the native of Miamisburg, Ohio, hit a remarkable .398 with three homers, 12 doubles, 19 steals, 38 RBI and 50 runs scored. He was honored with second-team All-River States Conference accolades.
Boxer played his final two college seasons at Cumberland. In 2024, he appeared in 46 games with 38 starts and posted a .403 on-base percentage with five homers, 22 stolen bases and 43 runs scored.
Boxer experienced plenty of team success in his college tenure. He helped lead his squads to a combined four conference championships and two regional titles, and he had a hand in IU Southeast’s run to the 2021 NAIA World Series.
Boxer earned his bachelor’s degree in applied health science from IU Southeast. He attended Miamisburg High School in Ohio and was an honorable-mention All-Conference catcher.
