Brian Coffman joined the Bellarmine University baseball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2019 season.

Before joining the Knights, Coffman spent two highly successful seasons as a member of the Indiana University Southeast coaching staff. His primary duties on the history making teams included recruiting and working with hitters while assisting as a bench coach on game day.

In 2019, Bellarmine captured the GLVC Tournament title and made a program-record third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Knights also set new program records by winning at least 34 games for the third consecutive season and boasting four All-Americans in Zac Wiley, Matt Higgins, Chris Gambert and Alex Phillips. Wiley was named GLVC Player of the Year and selected as the Midwest Region Player of the Year by both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Bellarmine finished 34-21 overall and led the GLVC in a slew of offensive categories including batting average (.322) and home runs (77).

In 2018, Coffman helped lead IU Southeast to its sixth River States Conference regular-season title in the past 10 seasons. The Grenadiers finished the season ranked in the top 30 in every NAIA Coaches’ Poll during the season and were ranked as high as 11th by Perfect Game. The Grenadiers finished 41-14 overall, 23-4 in conference play and ranked No. 26 in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll.

In his first season on staff as the Grenadiers' assistant coach, Coffman helped in leading the team to a record of 48-15 while finishing as the runner-up in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round in the Kingsport Bracket.

Coffman was the head coach of Kentucky Baseball Club 17U the past five summers and produced many NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA players during his tenure.

Prior to returning to IU Southeast, Coffman coached at several Kentucky high schools. He was a head coach at Thomas Nelson and Carroll County and an assistant at Male and South Oldham. During his time at Male, the team finished as a district and regional champion and advanced to the Final Four of the state tournament in 2010.

Coffman is a native of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, where he attended Bullitt Central High School and finished in the baseball program’s top 10 in career batting average and RBIs and in the top 5 in doubles.

While playing collegiate baseball, Coffman earned an associate’s degree from St. Catherine College and a bachelor’s degree from IU Southeast. He later earned a master’s degree in special education at Campbellsville University.
