Nick Eversole joined the Bellarmine University baseball coaching staff as an assistant in September of 2015. He was promoted to recruiting coordinator in September of 2016 and named as the program's first-ever full-time assistant in August of 2021.
The 2021 season marked Bellarmine's first in Division I and the ASUN Conference. The Knights earned three All-Conference awards, and following the year, senior right-hander Deylen Miley signed a free-agent deal with the Houston Astros.
Prior to Bellarmine's rise to DI, Eversole helped lead the Knights to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament title in 2019 along with three straight NCAA II Tournaments from 2017-19. The 2018 squad amassed a program-record 38 wins, the second of three straight campaigns with at least 34 victories. The Knights produced four DII All-Americans (Matt Higgins, Chris Gambert, Alex Phillips, Zac Wiley) with Eversole on board the staff.
The 2020 season marked Bellarmine's final year in DII, and it was canceled in the early going due to the coronavirus. Ranked No. 17 in the preseason by the NCBWA, the Knights were 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the GLVC after sweeping perennial conference power Quincy when the remainder of the season was called off. Junior right-hander Brandon Pfaadt became the second-highest MLB draft selection in program history after being picked in the fifth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2019, Eversole helped lead Bellarmine to a GLVC Tournament title and a program-record third straight appearance in the NCAA II Tournament. The Knights also set new program records by winning at least 34 games for the third consecutive season and boasting four All-Americans in Wiley, Higgins, Gambert and Phillips. Wiley was named GLVC Player of the Year and selected as the Midwest Region Player of the Year by both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Bellarmine finished 34-21 overall and led the GLVC in a slew of offensive categories including batting average (.322) and home runs (77).
The 2018 campaign was a historic one. Bellarmine won a program-record 38 games, tying and breaking the record on the same day at the GLVC Tournament. The Knights received their second straight at-large bid to the NCAA II Tournament and earned the two-seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional. In the regional, they recorded a 6-1 victory over No. 16 Northwood. During the regular season, Bellarmine rose to No. 17 in the national rankings. The Knights finished second in the GLVC East with a 16-8 conference mark and had a program-record nine All-GLVC selections while Mathis was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year.
In 2017, Eversole helped guide Bellarmine to its first berth in the NCAA II Tournament since 2013. The Knights received their first at-large bid into the Big Dance since 2008. Bellarmine's 34 wins were only two shy of the program record. The Knights finished second in the GLVC East with a 20-8 record and secured a third bid in a row in the GLVC Tournament.
In 2016, Eversole's first season with the Knights, Bellarmine earned its second straight trip to the GLVC Tournament. The Knights finished 15-11 in league play and captured third place in the GLVC East. In the conference tourney, Bellarmine defeated No. 18 Quincy in the opening round. Spencer was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year one season after throwing 9.0 total innings.
Eversole came to Bellarmine after a two-year stint coaching at his alma mater, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He was also the head coach of the Black Diamonds of the Mountain West Collegiate League in the summer of 2015.
Eversole was a three-year starter at catcher and first base for Bloomsburg from 2010-13. He was named All-Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference in 2011 and team MVP along with team captain in 2013. Eversole amassed 100 hits and, as a catcher, threw out 25 percent of potential base stealers.
