BEFORE BELLARMINE: Played high school soccer at John S. Burke Catholic in New York, where he was a four-year varsity starter...His high school coach was his father, Chris Shust Sr....Piled up 85 career goals in becoming Burke Catholic's all-time leader...As a senior and team captain, set new school record for goals scored in a single season and led the state that year with 47 goals, 11 of which came in the postseason...Named All-State, All-Conference and All-Section as a senior, and was recognized by the Times Herald Record as the Boys Soccer Player of the Year for 2019...Team won its first conference and sectional titles since 2011 while finishing 16-4-1 his senior campaign, and he scored two goals against Bronxville in a 2-0 win that gave Burke Catholic its first state tournament win since 2011...Scored 10 goals apiece his freshman and sophomore seasons and tallied 18 as a junior...Played club soccer with The Cedar Stars Academy for eights years, scoring over 200 goals in that span...In U17 season, won the NY National Premier League Title and advanced to the NY State Cup final and the Northeast Regional final of the NPL...Scored a goal in the State Cup final and two goals in the NPL Regional Final...Played varsity basketball and varsity baseball for two years each in high school...In basketball, acknowledged as honorable-mention All-State for large schools, All-Section and Academic All-State his senior year while being named Scholar-Athlete of the Month by the Times Herald Record in December of 2019...In baseball, while coronavirus canceled senior season, was a standout as a junior and voted to Times Herald Record "Boys Baseball All-Star Team" after batting .412 with three homers and 23 RBIs...High school GPA was 3.9.
