Matthew Brozovich, the 2023 ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year, joined the Bellarmine University men's soccer staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2024 season.
Brozovich played at Bellarmine from 2019-2023 and made 39 career appearances in goal, including 29 in his final two seasons. The native of St. Louis was a second-team All-ASUN selection in 2022 and a first-team pick in 2023. In the latter, he was recognized as the ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year before validating the conference coaches’ vote of confidence in him in the postseason balloting by being acknowledged as the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year.
Brozovich, who garnered five career ASUN weekly awards (three Goalkeeper of the Weeks in 2023 and two Defensive Player of the Weeks in spring 2021), made all but one appearance at the Division-I level in his tenure. He was a member of the last D2 team in 2019 before the transition, a squad that went unbeaten in the regular season, captured the GLVC Tournament title and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA II Tournament.
The vast majority of Brozovich’s tenure then unfolded in D1 and the ASUN, where he thrived after the move to the NCAA’s highest level. Brozovich finished his career ranked fourth in program history in goals-against average (1.08) and save percentage (.753) while tying for seventh in shutouts (12) and amassing 125 career saves. Taking command in between the pipes, he posted five shutouts in 2022 and three more in 2023, with GAAs of 1.04 and 1.32 and save percentages of .754 and .727.
Postseason success was a staple of Brozovich’s time at Bellarmine. After the 2019 GLVC Tournament title, the Knights made three straight appearances in the ASUN Tournament semifinals before advancing to finals in 2023. They claimed the two-seed in 2023 and were the North Division’s top seed in spring 2021.
A four-time ASUN Honor Roll recipient who is earning his master’s degree in communication, Brozovich played prep soccer at St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis, where he was a four-year varsity member and garnered three All-Conference accolades along with All-Region and All-State notice while being recognized as the conference Goalkeeper of the Year as a senior.
