Sheniqua Coatney, a former Knights player, joined the Bellarmine University women's basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2023-24 season.  

Coatney joined Coach Chancellor Dugan’s staff fresh off a three-year career at Bellarmine. She spent her entire career with the Knights in the D1 era after transferring from Louisiana-Monroe and suiting up in 2020-21, the program's first in the NCAA’s highest level. In three seasons, the forward appeared in 70 games with 50 starts while averaging 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Heading into the 2023-24 campaign, Coatney is Bellarmine’s D1-era career leader in total points (512), rebounds (370), field goals made (193) and free throws made (125). In her final season with the Knights, the native of Shreveport, Louisiana, averaged 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 48.3 percent from the floor and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Coatney finished her playing career with authority, scoring in double figures in each of the last seven games. She averaged 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in ASUN play, amassing a season-high 24 points against Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 14 and a season-best 13 rebounds against Central Arkansas on Feb. 16. In the classroom, she was a two-time ASUN Honor Roll recipient.
