2025 Drew Petersen

Drew Petersen

Drew Petersen joined the Bellarmine University cross country and track and field staff as an assistant coach in August of 2025.

Before arriving at Bellarmine, Petersen was an assistant coach at UC Davis, where he had been on staff since 2018. He is an alumnus of the school and was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track and field.

In 2022 and 2023, Petersen helped guide Brianna Weidler and Sierra Atkins to individual Big West Conference cross country titles and consecutive Big West Conference Women's Athlete of the Year laurels.

Peter helped push three distance Aggies to the NCAA West Regional during the 2024 outdoor track and field season, highlighted by an 11th-place finish by Dani Barrett in the 10000m that landed her second-team All-America honors.

Petersen coached his high school alma mater of Davis Senior (Calif.) High School in his first year after earning his bachelor’s degree in exercise biology. He then served two years as a graduate assistant at Cal Poly, where he earned his master’s degree in kinesiology.

Petersen then served as an assistant cross country and track and field coach at Bradley University from 2015 through the 2017-18 school year, guiding the Braves to five Missouri Valley Conference titles in that tenure. In his three years with the program, Bradley claimed three consecutive men’s championships and two women’s championships.

Petersen’s wife, Emma, is the director of men’s and women’s cross country/track and field at Bellarmine.
