Chad Fischer was announced as Bellarmine University's Assistant Athletic Director for Communications in November of 2023.
In the role, Fischer plans, organizes and coordinates media relations activities for Bellarmine's athletic programs. He also oversees game day coverage of athletic events for statistics, photography, social media, and video and radio broadcasts.
Fischer came to Bellarmine following eight seasons with Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds. There, he guided the club's social media efforts and helped build the digital content team that routinely had the Reds in the top 10 among MLB clubs in fan engagement during his tenure. He held the role of Director of Social Media at the time of his departure.
Originally from Louisville, Fischer spent the 2011-2015 baseball seasons with the Louisville Bats, the Reds' Triple-A affiliate, working in media relations, social media and ticket servicing. He was the club's Director of Media and Public Relations before leaving for the Reds.
Fischer is a graduate of the University of Louisville and Elizabethtown High School. He and his wife, Brittany, also a Louisville native, married in 2018. They have two children, Charlie and Sophie.
Fischer replaced the legendary John Spugnardi, the former Assistant Athletic Director for Communications who retired on Nov. 1 of 2023 after 34 years of service to Bellarmine.
