Chris Cooper moved into the role of director of athletic event management in January 2014 after previously working in the sports information department. He is responsible for ticketing and game day operations for all home athletic events, scheduling and rental of athletic facilities, and overseeing the maintenance of all facilities.

A Louisville native, Cooper first came to Bellarmine back in the fall of 2009, serving as an intern in the department. In 2011 he was then elevated to a graduate assistant, working under sports information director John Spugnardi. In this role Cooper was responsible for creating the department’s social media marketing plan as well as laying the groundwork for several first editions of program record books.

During his time at Bellarmine, Cooper has been involved in two NCAA Championship Festivals, in 2011 and 2013. He served as the media liaison for the men’s and women’s soccer championship as part of the 2011 Fall Championship Festival and then as the softball media liaison during the 2013 Spring Championship Festival.  Bellarmine, along with the Louisville Sports Commission, will again bring the Fall Championship Festival back to Louisville in December of 2014 where Cooper will play a vital role in operations.

A graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree from the Division-III school in 2008 where he was a four-year member of the swimming and diving team. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Bellarmine’s W. Fielding Rubel School of Business after completing his coursework in 2013.
