Shaqwedia Wallace joined the Bellarmine University women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant in July of 2025 following a distinguished 14-year professional playing career overseas.
Wallace’s accomplished international playing tenure included stints in Spain (2011-12, UNB), Portugal (2012-13, Quinta Dos Lombos; 2014-16, Club Uniao Sportiva), France (2016-17, Angers; 2018-19, Nantes; 2023, RVBC), Belgium (2017-18, Waregem; 2019-20, Castors Braine), Turkey (2020-21, Adana Basket Klub; 2022-23, Antalya; 2024, Bursa), Israel (2021, Ramat Gan), Romania (2021-22, Sepsi Sic), Beirut (2022, Beirut Club), Mexico (2024, Adelitas) and Lebanon (2025, Beirut Club).
Wallace earned two league championships and one EuroCup title while being named MVP (2014) in her time in Portugal with Club Uniao Sportiva. She helped lead Castors Braine of Belgium, Ramat Gan of Israel and Sepsi Sic of Romania to regular-season league championships and delivered an MVP campaign (2022) while powering Beirut Club of Beirut to an Arab Club championship.
Wallace had a prolific four-year college career at Temple University in which she finished her tenure as the program’s 12th-leading scorer all-time (1,190 points) and its all-time leader in 3-pointers made (162). As a senior in 2010-11, the 5-foot-9 guard was a third-team All-Atlantic 10 selection after averaging 13.5 points and 2.7 assists per game.
Wallace additionally received first-team Big 5 plaudits as a senior and second-team laurels as a junior (the “Big 5” is an association of college athletic programs located in the Philadelphia area). She had a breakout sophomore campaign as a super sub for the Owls, averaging 11.0 points per game and following with a 10.6-point clip as a junior. Wallace earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Temple.
A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Wallace played high school basketball at Laney High School, where she was recognized as the Wilmington Star News Player of the Year as a senior while averaging 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game and spurring the team to a 28-2 record. Laney retired Wallace’s jersey, where it sits next to boys alum Michael Jordan’s in a display case.
