Devanny Boisvert

Devanny Kuhn Boisvert (pronounced DEV-un-ee BO-vair) was promoted to head coach of the Bellarmine University field hockey team prior to the 2019 season after joining the staff as an assistant in 2013.

Boisvert will enter her sixth season as the head coach in the fall of 2024 as the Knights’ transition period into Division I ends, making them eligible to compete for the NCAA Championship.

Boisvert led the Knights to seven wins in 2023, their highest total since joining Division I, and a fifth-place finish in the MAC. Bellarmine earned three wins in MAC play, a new program high since entering the conference, and went 4-0 in overtime games, two of which were double-overtime affairs.

The Knights featured a first-team All-MAC selection in forward Paige Hoyer, who was also named to the MAC All-Freshman team, and a second-team All-MAC selection in midfielder Bente Moormann. Additionally, Moormann, Alexa Rastigue, Teresa Schmidt and Kailey Workman were honored on College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team.

In 2022, Amber Hofenk Jerembo became the program's first-ever first-team All-MAC selection. The 2021 campaign showcased major strides in the program's second season in Division I. Boisvert was named MAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Knights to four victories, including two against Boisvert's alma mater Ball State. Bellarmine won three of its final four games and featured a pair of second-team All-MAC players in Hofenk Jerembo and Breanna McWhorter. Additionally, Julia Doornebos, Amber Hofenk Jerembo, Bente Moormann and Marit van der Bend were names to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team.

In 2019, Bellarmine's final season in Division II, Boisvert guided the Knights to a 10-8 record in her first year at the helm of the program. One of those victories was a 2-1 triumph in overtime over No. 9 Bloomsburg. The Knights put together a six-game winning streak during the season.

In 2016, Boisvert, then an assistant, helped lead Bellarmine to its most wins since 2011 as the Knights accumulated 13 victories. Bellarmine tied for second place in the Eastern College Athletic Conference during the regular season and was the No. 2 seed in the ECAC Tournament. Six Knights were recognized on the All-ECAC teams.

In 2014, Boisvert helped lead Bellarmine to an 11-win season that included an appearance in the ECAC Tournament finals. Six members of the team were honored on the All-ECAC teams. The following year the Knights again advanced to the 2015 ECAC championship game with four team members earning All-ECAC accolades.

After a sterling high school career at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Boisvert played four years (2008-11) at Ball State, where she served as team captain her junior and senior seasons and twice earned first-team All-MAC honors along with one second-team nod and multiple Academic All-MAC notices. In her junior season, she collected 33 points on the strength of 15 goals, including five game-winners, and led the team in goals with seven her senior year.

Before graduating from Ball State with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in hospitality management, Boisvert was a two-year letter winner at Sacred Heart, where she became the first player selected as Kentucky’s Miss Field Hockey following her senior season after leading the Valkyries to a 26-0 record and state title in addition to a No. 2 national ranking. She was also named Academic All-State. She was inducted into the Valkyrie Hall of Fame in February of 2024.

Devanny enjoys playing field hockey with her adult team, playing pickleball and spending time with her husband, Tommy, and toddler, Beck.
