Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University baseball team split a pair of games with Rockhurst University on Friday at Knights Field during the afternoon and at Thurman Hutchins Park under the lights.
The games were moved to Friday from their original Sunday timeslot because of poor weather conditions expected in the area. Recaps of the games are below:
GAME ONE: Bellarmine 5, Rockhurst 2
Kyle Grana (W, 2-1) struck out 10 batters in 7.2 innings, allowing two runs off five hits and one walk to earn the victory.

Austin Crutcher went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in, including an RBI triple in the fifth inning to open the game's scoring. First baseman
Michael Morrissette was the only other Knight with multiple hits in the contest, hitting 2-for-3 with a run scored.
GAME TWO: Rockhurst 5, Bellarmine 4
Designated hitter
Jes Staples went 1-for-1 with a run scored, a run batted in, and drew a walk in the scheduled seven-inning nightcap.
The Knights trailed 5-2 in the sixth inning before third baseman
Cole Metcalfe's one-out RBI single scored Phil Leopold. Bellarmine had one final opportunity in the seventh inning, pulling within one after an RBI sacrifice fly by Leopold left a runner on second with two outs. Morrissette grounded out to shortstop to conclude the game on the next play.
Bellarmine (6-8, 2-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will conclude the weekend series with Rockhurst (8-6, 3-3 GLVC) on Saturday with a doubleheader at Knights Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon, and T-shirts will be distributed to fans as part of Bellarmine Athletics' day-long blackout promotion.
