Box Score SAN ANGELO, Texas—The Bellarmine University baseball team dropped its third straight game of their Texas spring break trip on Tuesday evening, falling 6-4 to the No. 15 Angelo State Rams.
The Rams didn't overpower the Knights, but tapped out 11 base hits—only one for extra bases—and scored in five of their eight at bats to earn the victory.
Bellarmine banged out 10 hits, led by
Graham Spencer with three. After falling behind 4-0 early, the Knights rallied for two runs in the top of the fourth with a single by Spencer, doubles by Philip Leopold and
Nick Hladek and a sacrifice fly by
Michael Morrissette.
After the Rams re-established a four-run lead, the Knights again made a comeback effort in the seventh when they collected four base hits but only scored one run as they left the bases loaded to end the inning.
In Bellarmine's final at-bat,
Austin Crutcher reached base with a one-out error. Spencer followed with a single, and another ASU error allowed Crutcher to score. However, ASU pitcher closed out the game with back-to-back strikeouts.

Jason Sterrett went three innings and gave up four runs to take the loss, and ASU's Bryant Rutledge worked five innings to pick up the win. The Knights used a total of six pitchers on the night with
Curtis McCombs,
Phil Forbis,
Ryan Dixon,
Connor Asay, and
John Hakemoller all seeing action.
The loss drops Bellarmine to 3-4 on the season, while the Rams improve to 12-5.
Bellarmine now travels back to Abilene, Texas for a three-game set with the Wildcats of Abilene Christian.
