Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind.--The Bellarmine University baseball team surrendered two runs in the bottom of the eighth and lost a 6-5 decision to the home-standing Oakland City University Mighty Oaks today in a non-conference NCAA Division II game at Pinnick Field.
The loss drops Bellarmine to 18-14 on the season while the Mighty Oaks improve to 12-22.
Offensively, the Knights were held to just six base hits and were led by
Justin Eberenz, who finished 2-for-2 with a run scored.
Defensively, untimely errors proved costly for the Knights for the second game in a row. Today, two eighth inning errors contributed to the Mighty Oaks' two-run rally.
Evan McNair got the pitching start, going four innings before giving way to
John Hakemoller, who went an inning and two-thirds.
Joshua Jimenez was saddled with the loss, throwing two and a third innings and giving up two runs, just one of which was eanred.
The Bellarmine-Oakland City game was added after a previous game originally scheduled to be played at Knights Field was canceled due to weather.
The Knights return to action tomorrow with a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill.
