Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following three midweek road contests, the Bellarmine baseball team returned home to Knights Field on Saturday, splitting a doubleheader against the University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown.

Game One: Bellarmine 12, Indianapolis 2 (F/7) Box Score
The Knights run-ruled the Greyhounds in the scheduled nine-inning opener. Starting pitcher
Kyle Grana (W, 4-2) picked up the victory, shutting down 10 Indianapolis batters while allowing two runs off four hits in six innings of work.
Offensively, Bellarmine compiled 11 hits, including triples by
Cole Metcalfe and
Nick Hladek.
Austin Crutcher,
Graham Spencer,
Cody Scheler, and Metcalfe each recorded multi-hit games.
UIndy committed six errors in the game, including a miscue by right fielder Brady Thomas that allowed Scheler to score the finishing run with two outs in the seventh frame.
Game Two: Indianapolis 8, Bellarmine 1 Box Score
Bellarmine couldn't regain the momentum from the opener in the late game, falling 8-1 to Indianapolis. The Knights could only muster five hits, with just one of those occurring after the second inning.
Starter
Benjamin Fuchs (L, 2-3) allowed 10 hits and six earned runs in five complete innings.
John Hakemoller and
Joshua Jimenez came on in relief appearances for the home team.
Scheler scored the lone Bellarmine run in the second inning from third base when
Michael Morrissette singled through the left side.
Both teams return to the diamond on Sunday for the completion of the weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
