Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University baseball team welcomed NCAA Division I foe Butler University on Tuesday to Knights Field as a tuneup for their final weekend of conference play. The Knights dropped the nine-inning game 7-4.
The game pitted Bellarmine Head Coach Matt Tyner against the school he served as associate head coach prior to his arrival on the Newburg Road campus.
The Knights (23-20), who scored the game's first three runs, were overcome by defensive miscues, committing six errors on the day. The scoring included a second inning highlighted by
Michael Morrissette's two-run double to left field that scored senior catcher (and former Butler Bulldog)
Nick Hladek and shortstop
Cole Metcalfe.
Butler (23-18) took the lead in the fifth inning when left fielder catcher Radley Haddad singled through the left side, scoring left fielder Michael Fries from third.
Bellarmine closer senior
Justin Strohmeier took the midweek start and was seemingly on his way to earning his first career collegiate win, striking out three Bulldogs in 2.1 innings.

Offensively, the Knights recorded five hits from five different batters in the lineup, while drawing four walks.
The Knights return to the field on Friday as they conclude the regular season with a four-game Derby weekend home series with the University of Southern Indiana. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Knights Field.
