Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky.—In a marquee matchup in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the No. 7 Bellarmine University Knights turned in a sterling performance to post a 75-52 victory over the 19th ranked Wisconsin Parkside Rangers on Saturday afternoon in Knights Hall. 

Bellarmine was hitting on all cylinders on both ends of the floor, making 58.5 percent of its field goals  while holding the Rangers to just 32.7 percent.

Sophomore forward Josh Derksen turned in perhaps his best all-around performance as a Knight with a career high 22 points and five rebounds with two blocked shots and two steals. 

The Knights opened up a double-digit lead less than six minutes into the game, and the Rangers never mounted a serious threat.  Bellarmine took a 42-25 lead into the locker room at the half and then continued to extend the advantage to as many as 26 in the second period.

"This was a wonderful performance by everybody involved," said Bellarmine Coach Scott Davenport.  "When I say everybody, it was every player, it was every assistant coach.  When I say I love our basketball team, I get to see this every day, with the key word being our basketball team.  Thursday night and tonight I'm appreciative of this community for their support of this basketball team.  And it's a love affair.  These kids love them them, and I'm starting to feel they really love these kids."

"(Derksen) was tremendous," Davenport added. "His game is growing leaps and bounds.  I'm  so proud of him because it means so much to him."

The loss was the first for Wisconsin-Parkside in league play, and with Bellarmine chalking up the win, both teams now have identical records at 16-2 overall and 8-1 in league play.  Indianapolis maintained its lead in the GLVC East with a 74-57 home win over Illinois-Springfield today to remain unbeaten at 17-0, 9-0 GLVC.

In addition to Derksen's stellar performance, the Knights got 12 points and six rebounds from Josh Sewell.  Meanwhile, Jake Thelen and Chris Whitehead barely missed double-doubles with 10 points and nine rebounds and 10 points and eight assists respectively.

The Knights hot shooting extended beyond the 3-point arc, hitting seven of 12 from long range. Again, Derksen led the way hitting four of five triples.

Bellarmine also dominated on the glass, outrebounding UWP 37-21. 

Parkside was led by "Ziggy" Riauka and Jordan Mach with 12 points apiece with Andy Mazurczak chipping in 10.

The Knights now hit the road again, playing at Illinois-Springfield on Thursday and at Quincy on Saturday.
