Box Score ROLLA, Mo.—The Bellarmine University Knights rolled to an 81-62 road victory over Missouri S&T in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Billy Key Court.

The Knights, who are ranked No. 4 in media poll and No. 6 in the coaches poll, shot out to a 48-29 halftime lead as Bellarmine made 63 percent of its field goals in the first period.  However, the Miners trimmed that lead to just 12 about midway through the second period.  The Knights responded by reeling off 14 unanswered points to put the game on ice.

"On the whole it was a great game," said Bellarmine Coach Scott Davenport. "I think people need to realize the hardest thing to do in college basketball is win on the road. There's no such thing as an upset especially in a league as good as this one.  So I'm proud of the guys, especially in the first half.  We had 13 assists and 19 baskets.  Conversely, in the second half we only had six assists and we shoot 48 percent."

For the game, Bellarmine shot a solid 56.6 percent from the field, and enjoyed a six of 13 performance from the 3-point line.

Senior Jake Thelen continues to put up big numbers for the Knights, and tonight was no exception as the Edgewood, Ky., native totaled 23 points and barely missed his seventh double-double of the game with nine rebounds.

Josh Sewell came off the bench and dropped in 15 points of five of eight shooting, and George Suggs had a solid game with 12 points and a blocked shot, which moves him into second place on Bellarmine's career list.

Chris Whitehead had another good effort with six assists and four steals while Josh Derksen had a career high four blocked shots to go along with seven points.

The Knights won the battle of the backboards, outrebounding the Miners 34-30.  The Bellarmine defense also held the high-powered S&T offense to just 34.6 percent shooting and a season-low 62 points.

Bellarmine improves to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in GLVC play while the Miners fall to 8-4, 1-3 overall.  Three of the four S&T losses have come at the hands of three of the four past national champions (Bellarmine, Drury and Central Missouri).

The Knights are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Springfield, Mo., to face the Drury Panthers, who improved to 9-3, 2-1 GLVC tonight with a home win over Southern Indiana.
