SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--The Bellarmine volleyball team lost in straight sets to the Drury Panthers in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at the O'Reilly Center today.
Playing on short rest, having played a five-set match on Saturday evening, the Knights could not mount enough of a challenge as the Panthers rolled to a 25-21, 25-22, 27-25 victory. Drury outhit the Knights in every set and finished with a 52-37 kills advantage.
In the loss, Bellarmine got solid efforts from
Bridget Guinane and
Megan Kimbley. Guinane swung for an attack percentage of .529 while recording 10 kills, and Kimbley led the Knights with 12 kills while hitting .310. Defensively, Bellarmine was led by
Phoenix Fowler with 15 digs as
Toni DalleCarbonare and
Allie Muha also hit double digits with 10 digs apiece.
Drury was led by Brooke Antenen and BJ Specht with 13 kills each. The Panthers improve to 18-8, 8-5 GLVC.
The Knights, who fell to 10-17, 2-11 GLVC, return to action Nov. 6 with a home match against Missouri St.-Louis.
