NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Bellarmine University volleyball team swept past the host Trevecca Nazarene Trojans 3-0 (25-13-, 25-14, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon in the Scott Jones Memorial Tournament at Trojan Fieldhouse.
The Knights posted solid attack numbers, hitting .315 for the match while recording 12 more kills than the Trojans. Leading the way for Bellarmine were
Megan Kimbley with nine kills and freshman
Lydia Lange, who was successful on eight of her 11 attacks for a hitting percentage of .727.
"It was a clean match with offensive contributions from many players," said Bellarmine Coach
Jenni Grzebin. "I was pleased with our energy and ability to close out in three," she said, adding that she also was happy with the play of all four middles.
Bellarmine, which improved to 4-3 with today's win, posted advantages in virtually every statistic including kills (39-27), digs (48-36), team blocks (6-5), assists (36-26) and service aces (5-1).
Defensively, the Knights were led by libero
Jordyn Kuchenbrod's 16 digs while
Katie Adams assisted on half of Bellarmine's team blocks.
Trevecca, which fell to 4-5 overall, was led by Katelyn Atkinson with 11 kills.
The Knights make their home debut this Tuesday (Sept. 15) when they host Kentucky State in a 7 p.m contest.
