KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—A night after setting her career high in kills, Bellarmine freshman
Kendall Barrett went a step further today, turning in a monster performance with 26 kills and 24 digs to propel the Knights to 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23) victory over the homestanding Truman State Bulldogs in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
The win, which was the Knights' first in conference play, was Bellarmine's 10
th overall this season, tying last year's mark for total victories.
The Knights jumped out to a two-sets to none advantage, but the Bulldogs regrouped at the break and came out with convincing third set victory.
In the decisive fourth set, Bellarmine took an early lead but Truman State battled back and took the lead at 19-18. The teams then locked horns with ties being held at 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 before back to back kills by Bellarmine's
Margaret Horihan gave the Knights the victory.
For the game, Bellarmine tallied 14 more kills than the Bulldogs but committed 15 more attack errors as the Knights hit just .149 for the match.
Defensively, Truman State put up a solid blocking wall, netting 15 blocks on the match. However, the Knights countered by outdigging the Bulldogs 105-86. Leading the way for Bellarmine was

Bellarmine's offense, which was fueled by setter
Allie Muha's 46 assists, got 11 kills from
Hayden Dailey while Horihan totaled seven in limited action.
Truman State (3-10, 2-2 GLVC) was paced by Lacey Hill with 11 kills and Kayla Bastian chipped in nine to go along with 17 digs.
The Knights (10-3, 1-3 GLVC) continue in conference play this coming week, hosting Illinois Springield on Friday and McKendree on Saturday.
