LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Micah Linscott and the Bellarmine University men's soccer team took care of business early.
On Friday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium, the sophomore midfielder scored twice a little over 10 minutes into the match and the Knights cruised from there in a 2-0 victory over William Jewell in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Junior forward
Tomas Bernedo registered his seventh assist of the season for Bellarmine (8-5-1, 7-3-1 GLVC), which has won four straight and six of its last seven. Friday marked the Knights' third consecutive win by a 2-0 score.
Linscott scored two goals for the second match in a row, spiking his season total to nine. His first one Friday against William Jewell (5-10, 2-9) came in the ninth minute as he gathered a rebound in the goal area, patiently worked an open angle to shoot and buried his attempt for a 1-0 lead.
Lincott scored again in the 11th minute. William Jewell's goalkeeper made a save on a Bernedo shot, but Linscott was there to finish the rebound for a 2-0 lead.
Freshman goalkeeper
Connor Range and senior goalie
Zach Pogue each played a half and combined for the shutout, which was Bellarmine's sixth. The Knights have blanked three straight opponents.
Bellarmine finished with a 20-10 advantage in shots, including 13-5 on goal. The Knights also had eight corner kicks while the Cardinals didn't have any attempts.
Bellarmine will host Drury at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday. The Knights will celebrate Senior Day.
