LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lewis scored once in each half in defeating the Bellarmine University men's soccer team 2-0 Friday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Konrad Malinowski scored both goals for the Flyers (3-5-3, 2-4-1 GLVC) against the Knights (4-5-1, 3-3-1), who saw their 13-game home winning streak snapped. Bellarmine was shut out for the third time this season.
Edgar Avila piled up 11 saves for Lewis. The Knights generated plenty of shots — they had 23 to the 15 of Lewis — but couldn't locate the net. Bellarmine registered 10 shots in the first half and 13 in the second. The Knights also had an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
Malinowski put Lewis up 1-0 in the 29th minute when he sank an open shot off a cross from Timm Adler. He added a valuable insurance goal in the 68th minute, getting free and nailing an open look from 15 yards.
Bellarmine hosts Rockhurst at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
