CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Bellarmine University baseball team saw its six-game winning streak snapped as the visiting Knights were routed 20-2 Tuesday by Lee at Olympic Field.
Seven different players collected one hit apiece for Bellarmine (6-4). In his first collegiate at-bat, freshman third baseman
Andrew Sams doubled.
Lee (8-11) had several big innings, doing the most damage in a nine-run third. The Flames also scored three runs in the second and fifth and five in the eighth. Lee finished with 13 hits.
Six different pitchers threw for Bellarmine. Junior left-hander
Alex Phillips (1-1) took the loss. Sophomore right-hander
Will Seewer tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
Bellarmine and Lee will meet again in a single game at 2 p.m. (ET) Wednesday.
