CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Lee scored four runs over the final three innings in rallying to defeat the Bellarmine University baseball team 6-5 on Wednesday at Olympic Field.
Bellarmine (6-5) took a 5-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but Lee (9-11) scored once in the bottom half and knotted it up in the eighth on back-to-back homers with two outs. The Flames ended the game in the ninth on a one-out RBI single.
Senior second baseman
Alex Ralph cranked his second homer of the season and added an RBI double in going 3 for 5 for Bellarmine. Senior left fielder
Griffin Neuer went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and junior third baseman
Josh Finerty added a pair of hits.
Ralph launched a solo homer in the first and drove in a run with a double in the third for a 2-1 lead. The Knights boosted their advantage to 3-1 when sophomore center fielder
Bobby Brokamp led off the fourth with a double and was driven in by senior shortstop
Drew Greenwood, and Neuer swatted a two-run single in the seventh for a 5-2 lead.
Neuer (0-1) entered to pitch to start the ninth and took the loss. Junior right-hander
Kyle Beach started and allowed two earned runs in 6.1 innings.
Bellarmine will host Southern Indiana in a non-GLVC game at 3 p.m. (ET) Friday.
