Davis named as Assistant AD for External Business Operations

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine University Director of Athletics Scott Wiegandt announced today that the school's transition to NCAA Division I continues to progress at a rapid pace with the addition of Sarah Beth (Gillis) Davis coming on board as assistant athletics director for external business operations.

This is the second new appointment since Bellarmine's June 12 announcement that the school was moving to NCAA Division I and joining the ASUN Conference.  In July, Bellarmine announced the creation of the Center for Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes and the appointment of Dr. Andrew Schroeder as director.

For Davis, collegiate athletics is familiar territory.  Although she has worked as staff accountant since 2013, including the past two and half years in Bellarmine's business affairs office, she played college basketball at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.  Davis served as team captain for the Blue Raiders her senior season and turned in a solid four-year career with 122 games played and 599 points from her guard position.  Davis also was named as an NAIA Scholar in both her junior and senior years.

"As Bellarmine Athletics continues to grow, having Sarah on board ensures that we can operate from a business perspective both professionally and efficiently," Wiegandt said.  "Also, with her background as a student-athlete, I'm confident that our business policies will continue to be based on a students-first philosophy."

Davis, a native of Bloomfield, Kentucky, holds a bachelor's degree from Lindsey Wilson College. In addition to her accounting experience at Bellarmine, she worked nearly four years at PHARMCO Products in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

"With Bellarmine's move to Division I, I couldn't imagine a more exciting time to transition to athletics and work in an area for which I have so much passion," Davis said.  "I look forward to challenges that await and relish the opportunity to return to collegiate athletics."
