LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The set-ups were there again and again, and senior forward Annabel Moore finally delivered the finish the Bellarmine University women's soccer team so desperately needed.

On Sunday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium, Moore broke a scoreless deadlock with Southern Indiana with about 20 minutes left in regulation and the Knights held on for a critical 1-0 victory over the Screaming Eagles in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Freshman forward Heavyn O'Connell assisted on Moore's goal for Bellarmine (4-2, 1-2 GLVC), which avoided what could have been a deep hole in the league standings with a clutch win over the rival Screaming Eagles (3-2, 1-2). All four of Bellarmine's victories have come by 1-0 scores.

The latest 1-0 blanking saw Bellarmine again create plenty of promising chances to score without much to show for it on the scoreboard. However, the Knights would only need to capitalize once, and it occurred after a scoreless first half.

In the 71st minute, O'Connell tracked the ball down toward the right side of the box, turned and passed diagonally to Moore at the top of the box. She curled a shot around two USI defenders and snuck it inside the far post for a 1-0 lead. It was Moore's second goal of the season, and second game-winner.

Bellarmine's defense stood firm en route to its fourth shutout. Sophomore goalkeeper Elyssa Francis collected five saves, including a few leaping grabs.

Bellarmine was highly active offensively and generated 21 shots, including eight on frame. The Knights attempted nine shots in the first half and 12 after the intermission. USI tallied 13 shots, five of which were on goal.

Bellarmine plays at 6 p.m. (ET) Friday at Quincy.
