LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Alison Muenz-Winkler has joined the Bellarmine University athletics department as an assistant sports performance coach.
Muenz-Winkler will primarily oversee training for women's basketball, women's soccer, softball, field hockey and women's and men's tennis and swimming.
Before arriving at Bellarmine, Muenz-Winkler spent six years at Saint Louis University. After two years as an assistant sports performance coach, she was promoted to associate director of sports performance, a position she held for four years and one in which she performed the scheduling and managing of all 16 varsity athletic teams.
During her stint at Saint Louis, Muenz-Winkler designed and implemented training regimens for women's basketball, baseball and both women's and men's soccer, tennis, cross country and track and field teams. Women's soccer captured a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference titles and baseball added another during her tenure, while women's soccer and women's basketball both had an Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year and baseball had an Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year.
"I'm absolutely ecstatic to have Coach Muenz-Winkler join the sports performance department," said
Steve Hartman, Bellarmine's head coach of sports performance. "She brings extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge for the benefit of all our student-athletes. She is already well on her way to becoming an integral part of our sports performance programs. I'm looking forward to working together with Coach Muenz-Winkler in further developing our student-athletes into champions!"
Before her time at Saint Louis, Muenz-Winkler spent over a year at the University of Evansville as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and oversaw training for women's basketball, softball, men's and women's swimming and women's tennis. Prior to that, she was the lead assistant for several teams at Murray State University for a season as a lead intern/assistant strength and conditioning coach.
"When our family decided to move back to Louisville, Bellarmine was my top choice to work," Muenz-Winkler said. "When I got the call from (Bellarmine Director of Athletics) Scott (Wiegandt) that they had offered me the position, I was excited and ready to be a part of the Bellarmine family. I'm looking forward to helping Steve grow the sports performance department and work with each of the athletic teams. My passion is to help others and I'm excited to help each of the teams compete at the highest level and be competitive in the ASUN."
Muenz-Winkler earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Louisville, the former in exercise science and the latter in exercise physiology with a concentration in strength and conditioning.
Muenz-Winkler is a native of Paducah, Kentucky, and attended Paducah Tilghman High School, where she played soccer and tennis. She has a husband, Oliver, and daughter, Nora.
