LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University baseball team will host Lee in a doubleheader Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. at Trinity Stadium off Ten Pin Lane.
Bellarmine (5-4) and Lee (10-7) were originally scheduled to play single games Tuesday and Wednesday in Cleveland, Tennessee. The venue shifted to Louisville due to an ominous weather forecast. With storms hitting the area locally as well, the doubleheader moved to Trinity Stadium instead of Knights Field.
Bellarmine has been off since Feb. 23 when the Knights defeated visiting Hillsdale 12-5 to win two out of three in the series. Junior right-hander
Brandon Pfaadt was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after maintaining a no-hitter through 6.0 innings in a 5-1 victory in the opener against the Chargers.
Junior left fielder
Matt Higgins, who went 5 for 6 in the finale against Hillsdale, is batting .424 in pacing the offense. Bellarmine collected a season high in both runs (12) and hits (16) in the concluding game of the series against the Chargers.
Lee has started Gulf South Conference play and competed in a three-game series over the weekend against Christian Brothers. The Flames dropped the opener 6-5 but rebounded with 10-1 and 7-6 victories over the final two contests.
Lee is batting .263 as a team. Alan Smith is hitting .365 with two homers, seven doubles and 20 RBIs. Ryan Beamish is batting .323 with two homers, seven doubles and 12 RBIs.
Lee's pitching staff carries a 3.83 ERA and has struck out 158 batters in 141 innings.
