Bellarmine drops match to ASUN West leader Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala.—The Bellarmine volleyball team fell in straight sets to ASUN West Division leader Jacksonville State on Friday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The host Gamecocks got off to a strong start, taking the first set 25-9 as they hit a robust .538 while the Knights struggled to find offense, committing as many attack errors as they had kills.

Bellarmine regrouped a bit in the second set, but Jacksonville State kept its offense humming to take a 25-20 victory.

In set three, the Knights slowed the Gamecock attack, holding JSU to a .200 attack percentage, but the home team pulled out a 25-18 victory to close out the match.

Bellarmine's top offensive threat was Bailey Roszman, who posted a .438 hitting game while chalking up a team-high nine kills.  Freshman Ashley Nordmann contributed three blocks and five kills while Anna Lococo notched a match-high 11 digs.

Jacksonville State had a dynamic duo in Katie Montgomery and Lena Kindermann who combined for 20 kills on just 31 swings as they led the Gamecocks to a team hitting percentage of .366 for the match.

The Knights fall to 6-18 overall and 2-10 in ASUN play.  The Gamecocks improve to 20-5, 10-2 ASUN.

Bellarmine returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Florence, Alabama to take on the North Alabama Lions.
