NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Lipscomb Bisons continue to be a tough opponent for the Bellarmine volleyball team.
On Friday night, the Knights squared off against "Lippy" for the sixth time in BU's short tenure as a DI program, and for the sixth consecutive time, the Bisons recorded a win, taking tonight's ASUN Conference contest in Allen Arena in straight sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-20).
The Bisons (7-8, 4-1 ASUN) came out hot offensively, and although the Knights' defense was able to slow them down a bit, Lipscomb still managed to hit .240 for the match as four different players reached double digit kills. Logan Gish led the way for the Bisons with 13 kills while posting a .370 attack percentage.
The Knights (5-13, 1-5 ASUN) were led by
Bailey Roszman and
Seville Gates with seven kills apiece with
Emily Arnold providing 24 assists. Defensively, Roszman and
Bailey Venard had three block assists each as Bellarmine and Lipscomb each posted five team blocks.
Anna Lococo notched a match-high 15 digs for the Knights.
A positive note for the Knights from tonight's match was the collegiate debut of
Ashley Nordmann. The 6-foot native of Lansing, Michigan recorded a kill and a dig in limited action as she made her way back on the court after starting the year sidelined due to injury.
Bellarmine continues its ASUN road trip on Sunday with a match in Conway, Arkansas to face the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears.
