CINCINNATI — Xavier defeated the visiting Bellarmine University men's tennis team 6-1 Sunday at Eastern Hills.
Freshman
Paul Reynolds notched a win for Bellarmine (2-7) at No. 3 singles after besting Cambell Nakayama 6-4, 6-1, 6-3. Xavier moved to 1-1.
Sophomore
Cole Groetsch, at No. 1 singles, freshman
Emil B. Berglund, at No. 2, and junior
Sam Rueff, at No. 5, all won a set for Bellarmine.
"After a slow start, the guys grew today and learned how to respond in a very positive way," Knights Coach
Will Davis said. "We are taking the strides we need to be the team that we want to become."
Bellarmine plays Saturday at Eastern Illinois.
