YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Youngstown State captured a 5-2 win over the Bellarmine University men's tennis team Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Bellarmine (3-10) earned the doubles point against Youngstown State (5-4) after senior
Ian Deiters and freshman
Paul Reynolds won 6-3 over Joao Garretto and David Moreno at No. 2 doubles, and freshmen
Emil B. Berglund and
Eli Franks matched that score against Laurentiu Mandocescu and Asier Ibanez at No. 3.
Sophomore
Cole Groetsch notched a singles win for Bellarmine after defeating Vasilis Vardakis 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 1.
"The team has a ton of heart, but they need to come back to the process and the everyday work that is getting put in," Knights Coach
Will Davis said. "We need to let the toughness and our heart show more on court. We plan to get back to work and get that 1 percent better tomorrow."
Bellarmine plays Saturday at UAB.
