KENNESAW, Ga. — In its first-ever ASUN Conference Championship, the seventh-seeded Bellarmine University women's basketball team was defeated 88-59 by two-seed Liberty in the quarterfinals on Thursday night at the KSU Convocation Center.
In their career finales at Bellarmine, which finished 5-17 in its first season in Division I, senior guard
Tasia Jeffries led the Knights with 17 points and senior guard
Breia Torrens followed with 13 against Liberty (18-7). Junior forward
Sheniqua Coatney chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
Liberty shot 60.3 percent for the game. The Flames led 23-12 after the first quarter and 45-27 at halftime en route to securing a berth in the semifinals. Liberty and top-seeded FGCU were co-champions of the tournament last season after advancing to the title game only to see it canceled due to the pandemic.
Jeffries, a second-team ASUN All-Conference selection, canned six of her 12 shots, including 3-of-7 from 3-point land. Jeffries scored at least 15 points in six of her last seven games.
