LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine volleyball team got off to sluggish start and just couldn't get over the hump as the visiting Lipscomb Bisons secured a 3-1 victory in Knights Hall on Friday night in ASUN Conference action.
Lipscomb stormed out of the gates, rolling to a 25-10 first set victory as they swung at a .364 clip while the Knights struggled to a negative hitting percentage. However, Bellarmine shrugged off the slow start and came out with a vengeance in the second set, grabbing an early 6-1 lead and holding on for a 25-20 victory.
The momentum shifted back to Lipscomb in the third as the Bisons cruised to another good hitting game while limiting the Knights to just .094. The final frame was close throughout with the Lipscomb closing out the Knights with a 25-21 win.
The match victory lifted Lipscomb to 13-2 overall and 10-1 in ASUN play. The Knights, meanwhile, slip to 4-11, 3-8 ASUN.

Chrysanthi Stamatiou put up her second double-double in a row with 13 kills and 14 digs. She was the only Knight to reach double digits in kills with
Bailey Roszman collecting eight and
Abbie Oetting,
Izzie Salameh and
Hannah Brown recording six each.

Kalli Mau came on late in the first set as the primary setter and dished out 33 assists while Bellarmine libero
Karleigh Wilson turned in a match-high 15 digs.
On the opposite side of the net, Samantha Rubal had the hot hand for the Bisons, slamming home 15 kills on just 28 swings for a .429 attack percentage. Meanwhile Meg Mersman was a force at the net for Lipscomb recording a solo block and five assisted blocks.
The same two teams are at it again tomorrow when both squads close out their regular seasons with a 7 p.m. match in Knights Hall.
