LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The deuces were wild for the Bellarmine University baseball team Sunday afternoon at Knights Field.
Bellarmine scored two runs each in the third, sixth and seventh innings to complete a three-game ASUN sweep of North Alabama after securing a 6-3 victory.
Senior third baseman
Josh Finerty had a huge series, and it was his two-out, two-run double in the sixth that vaulted Bellarmine (7-10, 3-3 ASUN) to a 4-3 lead over North Alabama (1-16, 0-6).
Freshman first baseman
Davis Crane provided Bellarmine some cushion in the seventh when he launched his first collegiate home run, a towering two-run drive to right center.
For the second time in the series, senior right-hander
Jacob Nagel tossed 3.0 scoreless innings of relief and earned the save. He replicated Friday's feat while sewing up Bellarmine's fourth straight win.
Freshman right-hander
Devin Ecklar (1-0) notched the win after pitching an inning of relief. Sophomore left-hander
Nick Parrish posted a scoreless inning out of the bullpen after coming on for senior right-hander
Anthony Ethington, who shifted from his customary relief duties into a starter's role and went the first 4.0 innings.
After trailing 2-0, Bellarmine scored twice in the third as Finerty smacked the first of his two doubles and scored on a wild pitch before junior right fielder
Jacob Mulcahy knotted it up with an RBI single.
Finerty finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Crane was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and freshman second baseman
Drew Buhr collected a pair of hits.
Bellarmine hosts Austin Peay State in a nonconference game at 2 p.m. (ET) Tuesday.
