Bellarmine falls to Lancers in MAC debut

FARMVILLE, Va.—The Bellarmine field hockey team fell 6-0 to Longwood on Saturday afternoon in the Knights' official Mid-American Conference (MAC) debut.

The host Lancers scored early and took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter.  Longwood then kept the offensive pressure for the entire 60 minutes as they outshot the Knights 26-2 in the game and owned a 14-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Six difference Lancers scored for Longwood, which improves 5-3, 1-0 MAC.

Defensively, the Knights got seven saves from starting goalie Breanna McWhorter with both Danni Swallow (4 saves) and Bella Thompson both seeing time in the cage.  Also, Alexa Rastigue made a pair of defensive saves for the Knights.
