FGCU scores a pair of late goals in defeating women's soccer

FORT MYERS, Fla. — FGCU scored a pair of goals roughly four minutes apart in the latter stage of a 2-0 win over the Bellarmine University women's soccer team in ASUN play Sunday afternoon at Pickering Field at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

Bellarmine (2-3-5, 0-2 ASUN) had some promising chances but couldn't convert in suffering its third straight shutout. Senior goalkeeper Elyssa Francis amassed eight saves against FGCU (5-5, 2-0), including a kick save on a breakaway.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles broke through in the 72nd minute as Louise Lillback located the back of the net. Lillback didn't stop there, scoring again in the 76th minute to pad FGCU's lead.

FGCU finished with a 16-5 advantage in shots, including 10-1 on frame.

Bellarmine hosts North Florida at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday in ASUN action.
