LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Four players scored in double figures to lift North Alabama to a 72-48 win over the Bellarmine University women's basketball team in ASUN action Wednesday night in Freedom Hall.
While Macey Lee paced North Alabama (7-8, 2-1 ASUN) with 17 points, point guard Hina Suzuki was perhaps the biggest standout for the Lions with 12 points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals. Alexis Callins added 13 points and Skyler Gill chipped in 11.
Senior guard
Bailee Harney led Bellarmine (3-13, 0-5) with 10 points. Senior forward
Sheniqua Coatney grabbed eight rebounds, and senior guard
Kathleen Scott, the ASUN's leading free-throw shooter, sank all seven of her attempts from the charity stripe.
Bellarmine scored just 14 points in the first half, which allowed North Alabama to take a 17-point lead into the intermission. The Lions followed by carrying a 47-29 advantage into the fourth quarter on a jumper by Suzuki, who also heaved in a deep 3-pointer just before time expired in the second period.
Bellarmine had a 7-0 run in the final quarter to get within 13 with 7:11 left, but North Alabama answered with the next five points to halt the comeback attempt.
Bellarmine will host Jacksonville at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday in Freedom Hall.
