BIRMINGHAM, Mich.—The Bellarmine women's golf team braved the cold, breezy conditions on Tuesday and shaved 12 strokes off their opening round score as the Knights finished eighth at the Chippewa Invitational hosted by Central Michigan at Birmingham Country Club.
Alaina Schmitt chalked up another top 10 finish—her third of the season—after rounds of 81 and 79. Bellarmine, as a team, posted teams scores of 341 and 329 in the 36-hole event.
Oakland University took the team title after rounds of 318 and 316 to best the host Chippewas by five shots. There was a tie for medalist honors with Bowling Green's Emily Nystrom and Oakland's Bridget Boczar both finishing at 153 (+9).
Bellarmine wraps up its fall season next week at the University of Evansville's Charles Braun Intercollegiate on Oct. 24 and 25.
