Bellarmine to face EKU on the road and at home in this week's ASUN action

10/20/2022 1:35:00 PM

LOUISIVLLE, Ky.—It's "ASUN travel partner week" for the Bellarmine volleyball team, as the Knights will face the Eastern Kentucky Colonels twice in three days.  Bellarmine travels to Richmond for a Friday contest at 6 p.m., and the Colonels visit Knights Hall on Sunday at 1 p.m.

While Eastern holds a sizable 7-1 advantage in the series history, the Knights and Colonels are 1-1 as Division I teams.  Last year was the first time the in-state foes met as DI teams, with each winning matches on their home floors.

Bellarmine comes in 8-12 overall with a 2-6 league record. The Knights are being paced by Jayme Scott offensively.  The Louisville senior leads the conference with a 4.20 kills per set average and with 298 total kills.   Defensively, junior libero Anna Lococo ranks fifth in the league with 323 digs on the season while Jayda Harris leads the team in blocks with 47.

Eastern enters the weekend 12-10 on the season with a 3-5 mark in ASUN Conference play.  The Colonels, like Bellarmine, dropped matches at Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State last week. Eastern Kentucky leads the conference in digs (1,317) and is third in kills (1,015), and the Colonels top offensive threat is Molly Michalak with a 2.93 kills per set average.  Defensively, Freshman Carson Ledford leads EKU with 68 blocks, an average of 0.83 per set.
