LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team will host IUPUI at 7 p.m. (ET) Tuesday in its final nonconference match of the regular season.
Bellarmine (6-3-4) and IUPUI (4-5-5) have met once in the Division-I era, with the Knights capturing a 1-0 win last season in Indianapolis. Returner
Haziq Zed scored in the 75th minute.
IUPUI will enter on a three-game winning streak, all in Horizon League play. The Jaguars defeated Northern Kentucky 2-1, Green Bay 1-0 and Oakland 4-2.
IUPUI has tallied 24 goals in 14 matches. Josemir Gomez is the team leader with eight, while Lukas Hackaa and Logan Finnegan have registered five apiece. Hackaa has also amassed seven assists.
Bellarmine is on a D1-era program-record seven-match unbeaten streak. The stretch started with four wins and was followed by three draws. The Knights were idle in ASUN play last week, and IUPUI marks the team's second straight nonconference opponent after a 1-1 tie Wednesday with Belmont in Frazier Stadium.
Bellarmine has not allowed more than one goal in a match since a 2-0 loss Sept. 10 at Liberty. In the last eight games, the Knights have recorded five shutouts and conceded one goal three times. The defense is tied for second in the ASUN in shutouts (five) and ranks third in goals-against average (0.92).
Bellarmine erased 1-0 second-half deficits to earn 1-1 draws in its last two matches. The Knights scored inside the final minute Oct. 15 at North Florida and delivered the equalizer less than three minutes after Belmont had taken a lead.
Junior forward
Nolan McGrath accounted for his fifth goal of the season in the Belmont game. He's the only Knight with multiple goals, although nine have scored once.
Bellarmine is in the tail end of a stretch where it plays six of seven games in Frazier Stadium. The Knights are in their second three-game homestand of the grouping.
