EVANSVILLE, Ind.--The Bellarmine women's golf team posted back-to-back team scores of 312 to finish in third place in the 36-hole Charles Braun Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Evansville at Oak Meadow Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Knights were paced by junior
Jessica Stephens, who fired a closing round 73 to post her first career top five finish with an aggregate score of 153. The lefty from Paducah, Kentucky, posted three birdies against four bogeys in her final round as she tied for the low round in the field on Tuesday.
Austin Peay, a fellow ASUN Conference team, took home most of the hardware. The Governors claimed the team title with rounds of 305 and 306 to head the 11-team field and best host Evansville by three shots. Taylor Dedman of APSU took home medalist honors, carding rounds of 72 and 74 to win by six strokes.Â
Bellarmine sophomore
Matti Spalding also turned in one her best career finishes, tying for 10th in the 72-player field as she broke 80 in both rounds. Spalding opened with a 76 and closed with a 79 to post an aggregate score of 155.  Â
The Charles Braun Intercollegiate was the Knights' final event of the fall. Bellarmine is slated to return to action March 6 in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate hosted by Samford University.
